Most Important Ruler: Shabaka. Shabaka was a Kushite pharaoh during the 25th dynasty of Kush. He was in charge of the building of many pyramids and also expanded Kush's borders to further into Egypt. When Egypt took control of Kush, Shabaka fought back regained power. In many opinions, he was the most influential Pharaoh of Kushite history.
History: At one point, Kush allied with the Hyskos and conquered Egypt. 50 years later, Egypt took back the land and also much of Kush. Kush also conquered Nubia, but was later on conquered by Nubians and never again regained control.
Government: Monarchy. They always had one pharaoh at a time and it could be a male or female.
Laws: The priests of Kush made the laws. The Kushites did not have many of their own laws, but when they were conquered by Egypt, they followed Egypt laws and government. Egyptian law was based on a common sense of view. They followed the codes of Pharaoh Ma'at. He believed everyone except slaves should be treated as equals regardless of social class or wealth. Many laws were about crime. For example, if someone stole something from the town their punishment was 100 strokes of the cane on the hand.
